A Study to Assess the Effectiveness of Structured Teaching Programme On Knowledge Regarding Polycystic Ovarian Disorder Among Adolescent Girls Of SGRR College Of Nursing Patel Nagar, Dehradun.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The present research project is an “A study to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge regarding polycystic ovarian disorder among adolescent girls of SGRR College of nursing Patel Nagar Dehradun. OBJECTIVES 1. To assess the knowledge regarding polycystic ovarian disorder among adolescent girls of SGRR College of nursing Patel nagar, Dehradun. 2. To assess the effectiveness of a structured teaching program on knowledge regarding polycystic ovarian disorder among adolescent girls of SGRR College of Nursing Patel Nagar Dehradun. 3. To find out the association of post-test knowledge scores with the selected demographicvariables. METHODOLOGY In this study, one group’s pre-test and post-test designs were used to evaluate the effectiveness of a structured teaching program on PCOD. The study was carried out at SGRR College of Nursing Patel Nagar Dehradun. A convenient sampling technique was used to collect data from 60 adolescent girls which 57 girls from BSc 1st year and 3 girls from Gnm 1st year. Data were collected with a self-developed knowledge questionnaire which consisted of 30 multiple choice questions regarding PCOD. RESULTS Major findings of the test are summarized as follows: The pretest shows that (66.7%) of girls had inadequate knowledge whereas after the structured teaching programme0-10 (18.4% ) had inadequate knowledge. The pretest shows that only (28.34%) of girls had moderate knowledge whereas after the structured teaching programme11-20 (40%) girls had moderate knowledge. The pretest shows that very few girls (5% ) had adequate knowledge whereas after structured teaching programme21-30 ( 41.6% ) girls have adequate knowledge. CONCLUSION On the basis of the findings, the study conclusion was driven. It also brings out the limitations of the study in the picture from the finding of the study. During the data analysis, it reveals that most of the students have average knowledge and some of them have less knowledge. Their awareness about the complication of PCOD is significantly less.
